1979-1987 - Desert Landscapes: Sinai, Israel, Egypt and Jordan
About this work:
"Folberg captures with his camera something that is beyond man's ability to create--the awe-inspiring configurations of nature, the sweeping vistas, the colors... Folberg's landscapes are fluid moments in time... Although one may never walk in these desert lands, one is drawn into the images as one is drawn to an altar--as a place to seek peace." -- Artweek
The unifying element in all of the Middle East is the desert landscape. Neil Folberg set out to photograph the eternal aspects of the desert landscape as if there were no borders and no politics and this body of work is the result. It was first published by Abbeville Press in 1987 in the book, “In a Desert Land” and is still in print.
This series was the first work that Folberg made in color and has been widely exhibited and collected, both by museums and individuals. First printed by the photographer in Cibachrome, recent prints are made with pigments on rag paper.
Vintage prints, when available, are Cibachrome.
Contemporary prints are pigment prints on rag paper.
Prices and availability on request, prints begin at $2400 and the price varies according to the edition & size. All prints are made, signed and numbered by the photographer.
